+====== Paragon Display Fault Fix ======
 +**From the Ten-Tec Reflector November 23, 2001**

+My Paragon has developed a fault with the display: all segments of all digits are alight! I can see a slight change of brilliance in the segments of the first few digits as I change the tuning. The receiver functions normally but I haven't tried the TX.)
 +
+If anybody could tell me what could cause this fault I'd be very grateful. My guess is that it must be on the Display Control Board as a fault on the display board itself would be more likely to affect only half of the display.

 +**November 24, 2001**
 +
+The problem may be capacitor C9 on the display control board, the one immediately behind the display.  It is part of a voltage multiplier stage used to generate the high voltage needed by the display.
 +
+Replace that, and while you are at it, you might want to replace C8 which is used in the reset circuit of the display controller.
 +
+A quick check would be to switch the display to low brightness.  Look for a 2 circuit jumper on a 4 pin jack in the middle of the display control board.  It will likely be positioned on the top two pins.   Move it to the bottom two pins.   IF the display works properly, you can be almost sure C9 is the culprit.

 +Good luck,

+My grateful thanks to Lee, WA3FIY, who pointed me at C9 on the display control board. I replaced that (and C8 whilst at it) and all is well again.
