My Argonaut 509 dial cord needs to be replaced. I know that I could order one from Ten-Tec, but at this time it is impossible for me to do so.

Has anyone replaced the dial cord on a 509 without using the official replacement?

Any hints, pointers, etc would be appreciated.

Go to Walmart or Joann's Fabric and pick up some elastic cord. Take a sample of what you have and match the diameter. I don't recall exactly what size I used, but there's plenty to choose from.

.55 cents will get you enough to restring every Argo in the country.
