FILTER SELECTION

DESCRIPTION OF EACH FILTER AND EACH MODEL NUMBER:

6.3 MHz I-F filters are models 282, 285, and 288.
Model 282 is a 250 Hz bandwidth 6 pole filter for CW or digital mode use.
Model 285 is a 500 Hz bandwidth 6 pole filter for CW or digital mode use.
Model 288 is a 1.8 kHz bandwidth 8 pole filter for SSB, CW, or digital mode use.

9 MHz I-F filters are models 216, 217, 218, 219, 220, and 221.
Model 216 is a 500 Hz bandwidth 6 pole filter passband centered for digital mode use only.
Model 217 is a 500 Hz bandwidth 8 pole filter for CW use.
Model 218 is a 1.8 kHz bandwidth 8 pole filter for SSB or CW use.
Model 219 is a 250 Hz bandwidth 6 pole filter for CW use.
Model 220 is a 2.4 kHz bandwidth 8 pole filter for SSB or CW use.
Model 221 is a 250 Hz bandwidth 6 pole filter for CW use, passband centered at 500 Hz. Usable on Omni-VI and Omni-VI Plus transceivers only.

What's the difference between the 219 and 221 filters?
If you usually run your CW offset at 500 Hz or less, and want to install both the 282 filter and a 9 MHz I-F 250 Hz filter, use the 221 instead of the 219. If you normally run CW offset at higher than 500 Hz, use model 219. Only the Omni-VI and Omni-VI Plus offer variable CW offset; offset on other Ten-Tec transceivers is fixed at 600 to 750 Hz depending upon model. The 221 filter is only for use with low CW offset on the Omni-VI and Omni-VI Plus.

The Omni-VI Plus will accept up to all three filters (282, 285, and 288) in the 6.3 MHz I-F. There are two open filter positions (N-1 and N-2) to accept two 9 MHz I-F filters. The Omni-VI Plus incorporates crystal filters of 2.4 kHz bandwidth at the 6.3 MHz and 9 MHz I-F's as standard equipment. You can add up to five total optional filters for a total of seven filters if all are installed. If you are going to install a single filter at a given bandwidth, like a single 500 Hz filter or single 1.8 kHz filter, we recommend installing the 6.3 MHz filters before the 9 MHz filters. This is because your passband tuning control is active on the 6.3 MHz filters but not the 9 MHz filters in the Omni-VI Plus.

6.3 and 9 MHz I-F filters (either or both) are also used in the Paragon, Paragon II, Omni-V, Omni-VI, Corsair, Corsair II, Delta 580, Argosy and Argosy II and Omni A/C/D series. If you are unable to determine from the owner's manual which filter you need for a given transceiver, please feel free to give our sales staff a call at (800) 833-7373 and we'll find the correct filter for you.
