Note: The firmware downloads below are only the .ruf files, which is the actual file you upload to the Orion. You must use the Update program which comes with the latest firmware download from the Ten-Tec website to install the .ruf file.

Version 2.025

  • Initial Production Release.

Version 2.026

  • Added Model number to report of version number over serial port.
  • Modified update of VFOs over serial port.
  • Modified Transmit Gain Control(TGC)in voice modes.
  • Fixed RFGAIN Clear Highlight routine problem that caused missing line between SEND2 & SEND3 when the RFGAIN control lost focus.
  • Corrected missing line-segment at USER1 caused by selecting AN button.
  • Fixed crashing sweep caused by DMA sync problem with main DSP processor.

Version 2.027

  • Modified serial interrupt handling to fix loss of data. Turned off the AUTO-RTS in the DragonBall that was interfering with interrupts.
  • Added call to clear encoder buttons when exiting MENU mode.
  • Now clearing prompt for clear in MASTER_RESET after button press. Users thought the button didn't work because of response delay.
  • Fixed bug in SUB-NB that caused erratic control range adjustment. Caused by SUB-RX using the MAIN-RX's NB register rather than its own.
  • Added screen update of AN/NR/NB changes over serial port.

  • Modified AGC system. Now has slow attack to eliminate hang-up on spikes.
  • Lowered Line-Out level because it was clipping in version 2.034.
  • Modified the Speech Processor to use envelope detection for gain changes instead of peak-detection
  • Fixed scaling inside manual notch function that causes numeric overload.
  • Reduced the SSB modes receiver recovery time - was 77ms as measured by the ARRL.
  • Added AGC Rise control the DSP and CPU code.
  • Lowered AGC Decay range to lower to 1 dB/S selection.
  • Modified the Serial Port Baud Rate Timing for more accurate 57600 Baud Rate.
  • Modified TUNE function. The main receiver was incorrectly changing to the sub receiver mode when tune

was pressed and the main and sub receivers were both assigned to VFOB.

  • Added ALC LED Hang to provide better visual feedback of ALC action
  • Modified VOX. Now forcing VOX to OFF state when mode is updated to prevent false triggering when entering CW modes.
  • Modified SPOT and SIDETONE scaling to eliminate line-out overload.
  • Increased SSB TX filter taps to improve the lower roll-off.
  • Added Keying Loop tracking to restore previous form of the keying system. Found at the bottom of the TX menu.
  • Removed codec mic gain increase.
  • Modified the AM Carrier adjustment to eliminate downward modulation.
  • Added menu item and control for MIC channel PGA through the DSP. Located in SSB Menu
  • Fixed FM/AM monitor distortion.
  • Added test for MIC PGA in power-up function so users don’t have to reset radio after update.
  • Corrected bug in external band and A/B, A>B operation that could cause incorrect band lines to be output.

Version 2.038i

  • Changed Voice Record system. Monitor now OFF during record unless the user has MON turned on.
  • Added recall of preset antenna selection to the serial frequency set routine.
  • Modified AGC for AM RX because it was causing distortion.
  • Added on-screen SPLIT annunciator.
  • Added on-screen BAND REGISTER indicator (A,B,C,D)
  • Modified TGC for AM transmit to correct carrier level control.
  • Added FM mic limiter to prevent over-deviation.
  • Increased BW limit to 9khz for improved am rx
  • Added ULcc<cr> code to the serial command structure to control the line-out selection and level.
  • Added UL? Query to the serial command set,
  • Fixed the sub S-Meter display and SQL operation that caused meter to disappear.
  • Scaled FM and AM audio levels to get more output on speaker and rear panel outputs.
