Replacing Meter Lamps in the Omni VI+

From the Ten-Tec Reflector February 5, 2002

I need to replace a meter bulb in my Omni 6+. However, I can't seem to find the bulb number in the manual, is it the same as in the 238 tuner, if not what is the number?

Thanks,

Vince Santis,N1VS

I have #47 penned in next to the two bulbs on the 563 Manual wiring diagram sheet (the fold-out sheet).

Replacing the S-meter lamp is easy.

  1. Have a good #47 bulb ready. Very common easy to find.
  2. Remove the top cover of the Omni, 4 phillips head screws
  3. Change the lamp
  4. Replace the cover

On today's Ten-Tec user net I mentioned a small project I had undertaken, changing all the pilot lamps on my rack-mounted Ten-Tec gear to LEDs. If you're interested I've written up the exercise and placed a small article on my website.

26 MARCH 09 If you are interested in both replacing your lamps with LED lamps and changing the COLOR, here's a tip. Ebay sells replacement pin ball machine lamps that are LED, they also come in a number of colors blue, green etc. I ordered a pair of green LED lamps put them in my VI+ and have a great green lighted meter to go with the green lighted display.

Have fun DAN, K3XR
