| ====== Omni V Deaf Receiver Fix ======
| **From the Ten-Tec Reflector December 4, 2000**
| Had a problem with my Omni V during the 160 meter contest this weekend. Over a period of time while listening the receiver would progressively go partly deaf. Transmitting or hitting "TUNE" would restore the sensitivity. Over time it would go deaf again. Sometimes, I'd call a station that was 569 and it would drop to 539 after my call. I would hit my key while the other station was transmitting to restore hearing (not the best way to contest!). I looked at the schematic thinking it was a T/R relay only to find that it
| really doesn't use one as such. I just now tried it on 20 and 10 and it does the same thing.
| Anybody ever experience this? I could always send it to TT but I would like to fix it before the 10 meter contest this weekend.
| Suggestions welcome.

| Most probable fix would be operating the rx/tx antenna switch several times (on back of the rig). Common malady with V's and Paragons.

| That was it. I moved the switch around and it made a real difference. Contact cleaner time tomorrow and swith replacement after this weekend.
