Corsair II Knob Repair

From the Ten-Tec Reflector November 16, 2016

I know about the knob problem on CorsairII. In the past I have repaired these knobs. First you remove the set-screw from the knob. Next you use silicon to fill the area where the setscrew travels through the knob. The inter collar breaks where the switch shaft contacts the knob. I take a pare of needle nose pliers and reform this collar as best as I can. I use superglue on the cracked plastic. After the superglue has set I use JB Weld to back fill the space between the inside collar and the outside skirt of the knob. Now you remove the silicon that protected the setscrew area of the knob. Knobs repaired this way have worked for many years. I hope this helps, 73, KA5SIW

I've repaired the knobs by just wedging a short piece of a Ty-Wrap end (there's a particular size of smaller ones which are just the right thickness and width in the "gripper" section to fit almost perfectly) into the gap opposite the setscrew to push the cracked section back together. The knobs I've done that way seemed to work just fine from my experience. 73, WB5JNC
