The cw sidetone in my Omni 5 sounded choppy. Dits were being clipped, making it difficult to use at speeds over 30wpm.
The dual trace scope showed a substantial delay between the triggering of the sidetone and actual audio output from the sidetone board.
Putting a 12k resistor across C1 on the sidetone board eliminated the delay. Now the sidetone responds beautifully to fast cw and is much more pleasant to use.
