====== Model 961 Speaker 60 Hz Hum Fix ======

I just attempted to use the built-in speaker on the 961 for the first time and am experiencing a 60 Hz hum which is quite audible.

I do not hear this hum when using the Omni VI's built in speaker, nor when using headphones.

It is loud enough that it is annoying.

Has anyone else experienced and fixed this?

Thanks to those who offered suggestions.

The winning suggestion came from Jack Burchfield, the president of Ten-Tec, who responded to my e-mail enquiry with "remove the ground wire which runs from one side of the 961's speaker to its chassis ground".

Works just fine now.  No hum at all.
